Some evils should never be woken.
In a forgotten mountain valley, jealousy sets three young lives on a collision course with ancient darkness. Sedge, the strongest boy in the village, destroys everything he loves out of spite. Petal, a witch in training, utters a curse she believes is harmless. And Kurian, a wizard's apprentice serving a seemingly kind master has been kept deliberately ignorant, opens a book he was never meant to read.
Beneath the valley, something vast and dead has waited since the dawn of the world. And riding a red comet across the night sky, a spirit as old as memory has been playing a long, patient game of rewriting legends, seeding fairy tales, and waiting for one foolish, desperate act to tear open the door.
By morning, no one in the village will be spared.
A tale of petty cruelties and catastrophic consequences, where a lover's wounded pride unleashes horrors that devour a town. Every character makes the choice that feels right in the moment. Yet every choice feeds the darkness below.
